I was using the Homekit Controller… which was a little finicky. Briefly tried the HACS integration and it worked first time, no issues. Good to see battery info now… I just have to remove the old ones and redo my automations with that integration now… maybe get that battery info into my layout.
I can set positions, i’m not sure what you meant by “covers with position as well as tilt are not yet supported.” probably something I don’t need clearly… but I use positions on a couple of my blinds without issue ,as I don’t want them to close fully to let the dogs out of the dog door.
I won’t be trying to get it into the core HA integration as it’s too hard / impossible with the current requirements (and ever moving goal posts that constantly get moved whenever I get close).
Partially off topic but Rollease haven’t been very helpful for me.
Does anyone struggle with signal reception? I was expecting one hub to cover a whole house, or at least most of the house. Unfortunately I need the hub to be at most in the adjacent room. This means I’ll need an extra hub or two (or repeaters).
The inclusion of the RSSI value in this integration has been really helpful in determining where to place the hub!
+1 to this. I’m controlling 4 blinds that are within 8m of the hub with only internal hollow walls between the hub and some of the blinds and I often see “poor signal” and have blinds randomly drop off the hub. I even see one blind in the same room as the hub, lose its connection. When this happens I need to go into the Pulse app and it rescans and picks-up the blind again, after which, it appears in HA again.
Signal reception was a problem with a single hub, the blinds were 10m away with clear line of sight. The USB repeater solved the problem, and also improved the battery life of the blinds quite a bit. Interestingly with the repeater the RSSI values didn’t improve much, not sure how useful they actually are.
No way one hub could service a whole house IMHO. I think the hub is a very overpriced low quality piece of kit, would advise getting repeaters over another hub.
I’ve thought about getting a USB repeater because the coverage from my (old v1) hub is marginal.
But the price I was quoted, inc tax and delivery, by my UK supplier, was £138 (about $164). A second hub would almost be the same price, I imagine.
Anyone know a cheaper source for the repeaters?
I ended up getting a second v2 hub and coverage is now acceptable but not great.
Original hub has been playing up, app says it is disconnected from the cloud and drops connection to HA but the status light remains solid blue. Enquired with Rollease Australia and they rolled out firmware 1.4.5 (from 1.4.0) to both hubs. See if it fixes it.
@goobags how is it working for you now? I recently purchased a Pulse 2 and a number of roller shades. Shades continually drop offline, some won’t connect at all to the hub (they are all in the same room as the hub, distance 2-6m). Firmware version on the hub is 1.5.0
The remote for the shades often needs to be brought right next to the shade to trigger a response. Beyond frustrating - life was actually easier with manual shades . Will be calling tech support during the week for guidance.
@lou_lou I have two hubs for a total of 4 blinds. Still disappointed that the range is so bad and I had some random glitches in my account, then had to repair some but not all my blinds.
I had one of the hubs mounted upside down which made the range terrible for one blind but slightly better for another. I ended up playing with the antenna on each blind to get the reception acceptable. The manual says to wrap the antenna around the motor but tech support says not to do that, seems weird they can’t get their manuals right, pretty basic.
I don’t have any remotes but the fact you need to bring the remote so close seems like the problem may be at the motor end. Let me know how you go.
I regret buying the pulse2 system as it never worked well.
Now for me I think the acmedia app update home assistant is broken.
Does anyone else have the same problem?
Is there an alternative way to control the blinds?
I have two curtains and two hubs. System is working much better with second hub. I am curious, there is supposed to be a battery sensor. I only have the disabled signal sensor. Be great to see battery levels in HA.
If you can enable debug logging we can see if the information is provided in the data. I need to make decisions about if to show the battery or not based on the model, so maybe it’s a new model? If you can open a ticket over at GitHub - sillyfrog/Automate-Pulse-v2: Rollease Acmeda Automate Pulse Hub v2 integration for Home Assistant with the logs, I can can take a look when I get a chance.
(I would also suggest double checking “Related” entities in case it’s hidden away somewhere).
I’ve got the log, thanks. If you can create a new issue here: Sign in to GitHub · GitHub that will mean everyone else won’t get this chatter.
Looking at the logs, things are as expected, so in the GitHub ticket can you please include the version you are running ( HACS > Integrations > Rollease Acmeda Automate Pulse Hub v2 ) Cheers.
