It can be controlled using ewelink app, thus you’ll be able to control with alexa as well like the rest of sonoff product lineup
And the forum you pointed to says it works with espurna, which means it will do mqtt and therefore home assistant.
But unfortunately doesn’t seem to be in a NZ/AU/US form factor.
You mean like this one?
I’ve ordered some of the 4/3 gang switch, will open it and see what’s underneath once it arrives
Someone on the sonoff tasmota google group confirmed he was able to flash the firmware on it although he didn’t leave full instructions on how to flash it.
Hard to say when I can’t read a word of it!
According to google translate, it
I don’t understand chinese as well, mostly just using google translate with chrome when I’m buying anything from that site
Sonoff Touch comes in US form factor for $15, can be flashed with Tasmota firmware and works very nice with Home Assistant via MQTT.
Though it looks somewhat ugly, challengng to fit to actual US 1 gang box because of terminal screws and sits there rather flaky. Otherwise would be very good option.
Yes indeed, there’s the sonoff touch but only limited to one gang.
Right now, there’s a few 3rd party switches that comes with more than 1 gang that are also based on itead.
Would be great if there’s detailed instructions to properly flash tasmota firmware on it (which can be done)
For example this tantech switch is similar to sonoff dual
https://www.letscontrolit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=13583#p13583
There’s also the US type switch that you can find here
Wonder if one can squeeze Sonoff Dual in 2 gang box behind standard wall switches and connect these wall switches to Sonoff GPIO for control… Could make a solution with 100% WAF
Oh yeah, about that
Taobao is basically another extension of aliexpress except it’s in chinese
Some of the stuff are cheaper in taobao than aliexpress anyway
They do ship worldwide, I could post some guide here if you want
It’s pretty easy actually to buy anything from there
I think I’ll let you get one, and see how it goes LOL.
I already have one (tantech 2 gang switch)
It’s working well as expected with the ewelink app
I’ve only flashed the firmware on the sonoff basic, I could need some help on how to start the firmware upload mode for this wall switch.
How should I properly connect the GPIO cable to the FTDI?
Similar to sonoff touch setup?
- You will need to pull the labelled GPIO0 pin to GND (ie low) before applying power to the circuit, in order to get the Sonoff Touch to start in firmware upload mode. You can do this with a wire with a fine pin (such as from a pin header) with the other end connected to GND.
I’d rather castrate myself with a blunt knife than use ewelink!
I am not sure of the course of action to flash the tantech switch, except that someone in the thread you referred to above ( https://www.letscontrolit.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2721&sid=43a445635192127f45eb7aa835dfa63f ) said that espurna works. I am not a member there, perhaps you could ask for more instructions?
Aqara wall switches are super nice and cheap!
Where are you seeing these cheap? A link please?
Check them at AliExpress, GearBest
Nice, but not much use in NZ due to form factor. I’ll keep an eye out to see if they have NZ/AU/US model.
Thanks.
I’ve asked around in the google group for sonoff tasmota and apparently you can flash sonoff tasmota on it as confirmed by another user. But there was no response after I asked how to flash it
Anyone who’s flashed firmware on sonoff touch could help me out here?
How should I connect the GPIO to the GND for FTDI? A diagram would help
i used this page for the visuals altho i flashed tasmota instead of espeasy http://xbmcnut.blogspot.hr/2017/02/how-to-flash-espeasy-onto-sonoff-touch.html
Actually discussed quite a few alternatives in this thread.
In the end the the TC2 switches are great, but I would prefer wireless ones to translate the state but being in South Africa I need the US dimensions with the 220V and only they offer that option at a decent price. They also don’t put any branding on the switch so you don’t have to live with a US spec switch with the name running down the side ruining the aesthetics.
