Drayton Wiser Home Assistant Integration

Updated again and seems to be working well again.

Is anyone else having the issue of when you press a mode button on the new thermostat card it jumps up to the top of the page, or does anyone know how to stop that.

Thanks

@msp1974 this is not a problem.
It’s better to fixed the issue with HA203.12 thanks another time for all your awesome job.

Tell me how can I help you, if you need help?

Hi folks,

New to HA and have a Drayton Wiser Hub, 2 thermostats and 2 itrvs. Now I managed to get it all setup on HA. I’ve also seen on the forum that trvs can be added directly to HA. My questions is can I pair a completely different model trv to HA and get it to interact with the Wiser integration to control the remaining radiators or do I need to stick with the wiser trvs?

Hope that makes sense

Just catching up on recent developments. I too, was worried about the new cards breaking everything when they inevitably appeared in the dashboards and not just the dialogs. I mentioned it a while ago. I have specifically skipped this version, as I am expecting a lot of rework will be needed as I too am using card-mod to modify the colours for Passive Mode and I don’t really like the way the new cards deal with upper and lower temperatures compared to the original ones, with the uncoloured gap in the middle, and with the target temperature now being larger than the current temperature. Visually the original style was much clearer IMO. I think there is going to be a lot of faffing with card-mod trying to recreate something similar to the original.

don’t forget to share once your complete

You have to laugh or you’d cry. :man_facepalming: It seems to happen almost monthly now. Stupid UI changes that have not been properly considered. There’s a small outcry about the new thermostat card design in the 2023.12 release discussion thread, more about the switching of the target temperature and current temperature sizes than anything else.

@Duke_box Thank you for nicely reflecting my views on this over there also. I do get a bit fed up with the mods reacting with a small degree of hostility and shooting down totally valid criticisms as if we’re all stupid, so I try to refrain from commenting in the release threads (unless I know the answer to something) wherever possible. It’s certainly not as friendly a place as here. :grinning:

Anyway, unfortunately I doubt we will get the original thermostat card back no matter how much noise we make. So unless someone can fork it and make a custom card to put in HACS, it looks like we are stuck with the new one. @msp1974 If I had the ability to do this I would, but I have no idea where to begin. I don’t suppose this is something you are able to do?

In the meantime, for anyone else that agrees with at least switching the size of the temperatures back round to the way they were, please vote here.

Hopefully there will be a bit of row back on this and/or maybe someone will be able to create a custom card from the original. :crossed_fingers: Until then I won’t be in any rush to upgrade.

I see you had some rogue devices after upgrading the integration to 3.4.0.

@msp1974 Is 3.4.0 OK to run under 2023.11.x for those of us that haven’t and aren’t planning to upgrade to 2023.12.x yet? I’ve held off updating the integration as well, as I wasn’t entirely sure whether it was a release specifically to address the aiohttp issue in 2023.12.0 or whether it’s fully backwards compatible with 2023.11.x as well?

I’ve just found a link to Better Thermostat and I’m now off to investigate whether this is a possible option for replacement of the new one…

Should be with the caveat that only testing lite performed. There is some stuff in it if you have a v2 hub (our friends in France with all the good stuff) or use unicode chars in room names (again European issue) but as far a we Brits are concerned, only to fix the 2023.12 issue, so if you are staying on 2023.11, i wouldnt upgrade yet. There will be a 3.4.1 release in the next week or so which will be better tested.

yes, it seems OK (I’m still on 2023.11.3), apart from one room getting duplicate devices, Once I removed the rouge ones everything is working fine.

Totally understand. I think we all appreciate the work you do on the integration alone without taking on additional responsibilities. Thought it was just worth asking. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks for your other replies. I will hold off updating the integration for now then.

Thanks for the kind words.

I am now a pariah with the mods, not only on this but the mismanaged Ping integration move and specifically the ping device tracker.
It would be nice if the devs and the mods would just respond with their thought processes so we could hopefully understand and accommodate.

I have not looked into forking the original stock card but I have found this.

Maybe worth some research?

I also had a brief look at this but doesn’t it require the “Better Thermostat” integration behind it?
And if so would this work with Wiser?
TBH I didn’t look to closely because of this.
Let me know how you get on.

Cheers
Mike

I might try and see if i can look at this I like a challenge, but I no ZERO Java, I mainly code in python, but I might be able to see the history between to 2 cards and maybe create a new card with best of both, the look of new card, but keep the fill area from the old one, and swap the Current Temp. with Target Temp.

I’ll see what can understand from it tomorrow, wish me luck…

Unfortunately it does appear to need the Better Thermostat integration. A pity as I don’t really want to use that. I have already written a load of custom automations that deal with window open etc and am happy with how they work, plus I’d rather keep it in native automations and not add an additional layer of complexity.

I’ve had a look at trying to disect the source for the frontend to drop it in as a custom card, but didn’t get very far. I’ve popped a post on the release thread appealing for anyone that knows how to do this to please do so. Hopefully someone will pick up the mantle.

Good luck!

Has anyone written an automation or script that can:

  1. Set all TRVs fully open
  2. boost / switch on all zones / rooms
  3. detect the sequence in which each rad heats up to determine the order that each rad is away from the flow feed

This is for the purpose of balancing and before I start writing my own I wondered if anybody else has already bee through this.
