a list of FR’s already going into this direction … at least, supporting different values of measurement (Liter, kWh, KG, m³ - depending on the heating system etc. would make also sense, in this case.
Not everyone uses gas, for example some people use heat pumps.
I track the usage of my heat pump power separately to my overall electricity consumption, and I then use the ‘gas’ part of the Energy Dashboard to show my heat pump usage.
It would be good to be able to assign a new name to the ‘Gas’ section to say Heat Pump Usage etc.
Loving the new energy management feature.
We don’t have gas, but Kerosene. I’ve converted my current consumption (currently litres per day) into m3 (10.35 kilowatts per litre is the official conversion) and fed it into a utility sensor, which works great. It would be real nice if we could rename Gas to Oil for completeness.
Many thanks in advance.
Please add kWh gas consumption sensor to be used for long term statistics and gas consumption within the Energy dashboard not just m3.
Posting this as a new request as moderator suggested that in the Energy: water usage feature request for also adding water usage to the Energy dashboard where people argue that “water is not energy”.
Please consider renaming the Energy dashboard to “Utility” to cover the consumption of all utilities delivered by any utility service/company and not make it limited to only management of power and energy meters but also include other public utility consumables such as Electricity, Gas, Heating, an…
Hi,
Would be good the total energy consumption would take into account gas and not only electricity as it is now, as it is easy way to convert m3 to kWh, of course the conversion requires convertion rate (in my case it is approximately 1m3 = 11,23kW). In my case (Poland) gas provider sells in reality kWh and not m3 as gas not always has the same gas calorific value. So the gas meter shows m3, but gas provider knows the average calorific value in the sell period time and calculate based on that …
Suggest to make gas consumption in energy monitor available in kWh unit.
Currently just m3 is supported, kWh would be more transparent eg. for heating with solar energy or electrical power
Hi,
The list of supported volumes is long but it is missing liters.
While not specifically for house-heating, trackign consumption of gas-oline of the car in liters and calculating the cost of the consumed liters would also be a relevant option to track consumption of CO2 as a whole household.
Is just missing that option to accept liters in the dropdown search of entities, and €/l as the price entity (or currency/liter) and the rest of the platform would work just fine.
While not for house e…
I’m using an oilfox device to monitor my oil tank and thanks to the oilfox integration I have a measurement namend “Oilfox_energy consumption” available. It creates correct kwH amounts per day (1L Oil= 9,8 kWh). I’m absolutely happy with this. Right now I added this entity as gas consumption in the energy card.
Would it be possible to add also Oil consumption to the energy card or, much better, to make the naming field changeable (normally one has only gas or oil, so no need for two subcards). …
The Energy Dashboard does not work very well with Natural Gas and Solar Thermic Systems. Changes needed:
Natural Gas: Is usually measured in m3 her in Europe. But cost is calculated in kW/h. Conversion can only bei an estimate because it is based on a gas heating value that ist published after the month has ended. So there would need to be a fixed estimate value and a manual input for monthly values. This would lead to a better price calcuation and consumption overview.
Solar Thermal Syste…
Gas is working fine but there are 2 improvement axis:
1: we are not charged from the m3 but from the number of kWh. It should be more logical to enter cost as Euros/kWh
2: gaz energy is not added to electricity energy. It should be logical to add both the values

In my country, I’ve never ever heard about anyone using gas for heating or for anything else other than in caravans. Haven’t anyone heard about global warming? Please make the name “Gas” changeable. Or add more options like “geothermal heat”, “PV Panels” , “Windmill”, “Watermill”, “Hydropower” etc.
“Gas” not only feels very environmentally incorrect. At this moment it also feels very politically incorrect. Where does the gas come from?
